Hardin County Adolescent Services (HCAS) was established in 199 with grant funds received from the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice. The local delinquency prevention council, BRIDGES, recognized the need for a central contact point for all youth services and programs.

Services include the following:

  • Assistance in finding ways to build assets among our youth. Search Institute has identified 40 Developmental Assets which all youth need in order to be successful. These assets can be thought of as building blocks to success. In order to reach their full potential, youth need at least 30 of these 40 assets. In a 1998 study, Hardin County Youth averaged only 18, which places them at risk.
  • Referrals to appropriate programs
  • Liaison between BRIDGES and local service providers
  • Liaison between BRIDGES and local television program highlighting youth programs
