Hardin
County Adolescent Services (HCAS) was
established in 199 with grant funds received
from the Kentucky Department of Juvenile
Justice. The local delinquency prevention
council, BRIDGES, recognized the need
for a central contact point for all youth
services and programs.
Services include the following:
- Assistance in finding ways to build
assets among our youth. Search
Institute has identified 40 Developmental
Assets which all youth need in order
to be successful. These assets can be
thought of as building blocks to success.
In order to reach their full potential,
youth need at least 30 of these 40 assets.
In a 1998 study, Hardin County Youth
averaged only 18, which places them
at risk.
- Referrals to appropriate programs
- Liaison between BRIDGES and local
service providers
- Liaison between BRIDGES and local
television program highlighting youth
programs
- Information and technical assistance
with grant writing for youth programs
- Networking source for local service
providers
